Midori Conrad Jones passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Midori was born in Olympia, WA on September 23, 1991. Smart, energetic, and funny, she excelled in math and science and was a 2010 honor roll graduate of Olympia High School. She then earned a B.A. in Mathematics from Western Washington University in 2014, and went on to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching from Western Governors University in 2016. Midori became a respected and well-liked member of the mathematics faculty of Lynden High School, teaching there from 2016-2024, and serving as the Class Advisor for the Class of 2023. Active in sports all through her school years, she served as a Blackhills FC Soccer Coach in 2009-2010. She loved Taylor Swift, baking, watching cooking shows and reality TV, and taking walks. Midori was also known for her early aversion to koosh balls and for seeking out the best Black Friday Christmas gift bargains. Midori loved children and played a very special role in the lives of her nieces and nephews, Naomi, Landon, Hugo, Esme, and Rooney. Midori was preceded in death by her grandparents Sakae and Ruby Aoyama and Harvey and Harriet Conrad. Her memory will be forever cherished by her adoring husband Jacob Jones and his family, her loving parents Robert and Miki Conrad, her brothers Zachary Conrad (Dr. Julie Tea) and Dustin Conrad (Dr. Cindy Mi) and her sister Hanako Imber (Kevin), along with her best friend Marnie, and aunts, uncles, and cousins. She will be forever remembered and missed. The Jones and Conrad families extend their heartfelt gratitude to Lisa Farrell Roberts for her incredibly generous assistance during Midori’s illness. A private family service to honor Midori’s life will be held later this year. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Cure Melanoma, Melanoma Research Alliance, 730 15th Street NW, Washington, DC 20005. “You were bigger than the whole sky.
