Molly was born on March 31, 1958, and passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025, in her home overlooking the Puget Sound with her beloved husband and children by her side.

Molly grew up on Capitol Hill in Seattle, where she attended Holy Names and Blanchet High Schools. After a stint in the Air Force, she returned to Seattle where she launched her career in finance and accounting. She worked in the advertising department at The Bon Marche and, later, in several roles at Crystal Mountain resort.

On a fateful August night in 1987 (in either a library or a bar…), Molly met David Meyer. They wed in May 1991, embarking on a loving marriage of nearly 34 years. Excited to start a family, they welcomed Paul in 1993 and Bayley in 1995. In 1997, they moved out of their house in North Beach in order to engage in a year-long remodeling project. With her two- and four-year-old in tow, Molly devoted herself to every detail of the extensive renovation that turned their home into the stylish and welcoming space that she truly cherished and loved sharing with friends and family.

For over 30 years, David and Molly’s condo at Crystal Mountain has been the family’s treasured second home. While very supportive of her family’s insatiable appetite for skiing, Molly built her own community there and will be missed by a great many dear friends she met “on the mountain.”  She made huge contributions to the condominium association by serving as treasurer and accountant for years. In addition, she worked for Crystal’s Customer Service team for many years, where she delighted in all of the kids, parents, and friends who would only buy tickets from her window!

Throughout her life, Molly had a passion for food. She became an excellent cook by experimenting with endless techniques she gleaned from many exciting culinary experiences and enjoyed testing on her willing family. This resulted in Paul and Bayley becoming very adventurous eaters, another source of great pride and pleasure for her.

Molly’s lifelong love of books, theater, and film meant that a conversation with her was always a rich, thoughtful, and interesting experience. She valued meaning and depth in her interactions with others. A kind and excellent listener, she wouldn’t shy away from using her incisive intelligence and quick wit in response.

After being diagnosed with her illness in September 2022, her tolerance of treatments and her refusal to ever complain allowed her to continue enjoying travel and adventure. This included two trips to Europe, time in Hawaii, a first-ever visit to New England, and countless travels up and down the West Coast to enjoy time with family and friends, always accompanied by her beautiful smile.

Those fortunate to know Molly will never forget her. Molly will be missed deeply by her husband David, their children Paul and Bayley, all seven of her siblings (Kerrie, Jim, Tom, Lisa, Dan, Shannon, Sean), her large extended family and so many beloved friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Don and Kathleen Wood.

A celebration of Molly’s life will be held on March 29th.   Please reach out to the family for more information.  Memorial gifts in Molly’s honor can be made to Fred Hutch, The Nature Conservancy, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
