Mike and I were great friends in Jr. High and High School. I remember his father wrote westerns and Mike and I spent hundreds of hours writing parodies of movies and books. We spent a lot of time at the movies on Saturdays (usually the old Helix theater). We would sit watching the movie and trading comments (much like MTS 3000) and he loved to write reviews later. When he was doing the DJ bit at UCSD, we were in the studio one Sunday and they had locked the door to the news teletype machine. I ran and got a pair of binoculars and read off what I could read as the paper printed and he transcribed it so we could do the news. Mike and I spent hours throwing baseballs and trying new ways to throw a curve ball. We rode our bikes from La Mesa to Balboa Park several times to visit museums and the zoo. We fished at Lake Murray a couple of times (unsuccessfully). I am sorry that over the years, we did not keep in touch but he has often been in my thoughts and I have told a lot of stories of our exploits as kids. Hearing of he passing hurts a lot, but I am glad he got to live the life he was only describing to me when we were friends. See, he knew what made him happy. He just had to figure how to get there. I think he did a great job of that.
