I couldn't believe this! I was his ESL student back in 2012. I was tidying up my base room today and I found a note in which I wrote small passages and he corrected it. I was going to take a picture and send it to him and say "Look things really have changed." I didn't have his email so I looked up online and ran into this heartbroken information. This is a really hard time. With so many people gone, some with very short, even no notice under Covid-19, I couldn't believe he is gone too. May you see this in heaven, Mark, that your student has achieved good things as you wished me to.

Connie, I was heartbroken for you when I heard about Mark. I remember the time we went to Dad and Mom's when Mark was a young toddler. He was careful about following the rules yet so inquisitive and learning all the time. One could easily observe he was one smart boy at that young age. You are in my prayers and thoughts as you go through this devastating time.

I have a heavy heart learning of Mark's passing. He attended several of my classes at WorkSource. He is very memorable to me. He attended an open-ended group called "Career Talk" it is nearly all networking and very supportive. One day I had attendees pick an affirmation card and discuss what that me to them. Mark picked "Grace" and at that time he didn't have anything to say. I asked him to hang on to it and please let me know when it came to fruition. He attended again a couple of months later and gave me the card back insinuating he found "Grace" with a bright smile! I could tell he was indeed a special one. Peggy O'Mear WorkSource Redmond

Mark had so many gifts: musical talent, an eager intellect, his wry sense of humor. He shared these freely along with his friendship. Most of my college memories involve him: ensembles and challenging discussions and Sunday night StarTrek watch parties. Mark - rest In peace, sweet friend.

I am so saddened to hear of Mark’s passing. We were in Woodwind Quintet together at the University of Oklahoma, under the direction of Carl Rath. Some of my fondest memories at OU involve the quintet and my friendship with Mark. Unfortunately, after university, we did not keep in touch. That is a regret I hold in my life. I offer my sincerest condolences to his family.

I am shocked to hear of Mark's death. Mark was a bassoon student of mine for 6 years at the Red Lodge (MT) Music Festival before his undergraduate bassoon performance degree (BM) with me at the University of Oklahoma, 1988-1993. He was an incredibly smart young man as well as a gifted young musician. He played on a used student bassoon, but sounded like a professional. One of the easiest students to teach, he placed a very high value on education and dedicated himself to being an outstanding musician. At Red Lodge, we would take walks around town and he was able to enlighten me on so many things about the area, animals, and flowers. At OU, Mark stood out as one of the brightest students on campus and received the respect from every professor with whom he studied, plus those that only experienced his beautiful musicianship in band, orchestra, and chamber music performances. He was a Sooner Bassooner, with a wonderful, somewhat quiet, sense of humor and always in control of his emotions. Whenever I saw him, he was either contemplating something or smiling; such a remarkable person who inspired me throughout our time together and continuing to this day. Rest in Peace, Mark...thank you for being my student.
