It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marilyn Ann Young, who died peacefully in her sleep on March 6, 2025, at the age of 76.  Marilyn was born on April 10, 1948, in Laurelton, New Jersey.  She was the daughter of Leo H. Young Jr. and Claribel F. Mele

Marilyn grew up in Point Pleasant and graduated from Point Pleasant Borough High School in 1966. After high school she studied theater arts at Emerson College in Boston. In later years she attended classes at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey and Monmouth College in Long Branch, New Jersey. In 1995 she earned an M.Ed. from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.  Marilyn always showed an interest in education and the arts and demonstrated creativity from a young age.

Marilyn had a variety of occupational experiences including working at the Jersey Shore, at a branch of the Queen’s Public Library in New York, as a preschool educator and volunteering for the U.S. Census Bureau. She eventually settled in Seattle, Washington.

Marilyn is survived by her sons Lee Johnson (Jasmin) of Clayton, North Carolina, and Ross Young (Margaret) of Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, grandchildren Rachel of Thousand Oaks, California and Abigail of Clayton, North Carolina, and siblings Frances Scott (Raymond) of Schenectady, New York, Harold Young (Rosi) of New York City, James Young of Olympia, Washington and her mother Claribel Young of Toms River, New Jersey.

The family will hold a private service soon to honor Marilyn.
