Marian Towsley Bentz, born January 4, 1935, passed away on November 3, 2023, age 88, at the Apple Adult Family Home in Lynnwood, Washington.

Marian was a gentle soul, with a kind and loving disposition that never faded.  Friends and strangers often commented on her sweet nature and her beautiful smile.  Marian’s happiest times were the years she spent with her husband, Raymond Bentz.  They loved and supported each other for 24 years, until Ray’s passing in 2017.

Marian took pride in her career as a medical secretary at Washington University in St. Louis, where she was acknowledged for “expert secretarial work” on scientific papers published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and the Journal of Immunology, among others.

She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, listening to classical music, and watching Jeopardy.  She also loved dogs, pecan pie, and chocolate.  She always had special memories of a trip she took to Europe with friends in 1955.

Marian was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray; her parents Myron and Genevieve; her sister Caryl; and her half-sister Betty.  She is survived by her son Robert and his fiancée Sally; her son James and his husband Michael; and nephews Phil and Eric.

Marian’s family is especially grateful to the staff of Fred Lind Manor Assisted Living, and the Apple Adult Family Home, who kept her comfortable in her last years, and loved her like family.

Cremation has taken place, and there will be a scattering of ashes at some time in the future in Colorado, a place she loved dearly.

Memorials in Marian’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
