John passed away at the age of 72 on December 15, 2024.  He was a humble, quiet fellow, a devoted Catholic, he was quick to smile and crack a joke and showed an outward peace. Like his dad Alex Villar, John liked to cook and later in life turned that love of cooking into his vocation.

At the age of twenty, John was drafted into the U.S. Army as the war in Vietnam raged. John, being the peaceful fellow that he was, became a cook and then executive chef in the Army. He earned accolades and awards in Army cooking competitions; and had letters to prove it. After being honorably discharged from the Army John worked as a chef in numerous restaurants in Seattle.  John loved to cook and later in life turned that love of cooking into his vocation. Anyone who ever ate a meal he prepared would vouch – the guy could cook!

John was easy to get along with and pleasant to be around. Sadly, for his family that loved him, he disappeared for many years and it wasn’t until his sister, Lucita Valiere and her husband Jim, were contacted by the King County Medical Examiner that they found out he had passed away.  Only then, to find out that he had been living in downtown Seattle the entire time. In the final years of John’s life, he was living in a community, at the Al Humphries House. Knowing he is no longer here with us on earth is sad, knowing he’s in the best place possible, with The Lord, fills us with joy.  May John’s memory be an everlasting blessing.  He is survived by his siblings:  Lucita V. Valiere (Jim), Alice V. Baclaan (Robert), Eddie Villar (Beth), Ernie Nazario, Rey Nazario (Marilou).

Memorial Services with ARMY color guard will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at St. Therese Church in Seattle.  Address is:  900 35th Ave. Seattle, WA  98122.
