“Grief is just love with nowhere to go”
Jennifer Ann ( Beatty) Metz left this life on April 12, 2022, at only 47 years of age. She valiantly battled colon cancer for eight months, after diagnosis in August of last year.
Jenny was born December 14, 1974 and enjoyed having her birthday close to Christmas. She celebrated both holidays all December, getting out the decorations and Christmas CDs long before appropriate. She sparkled, especially during this season.
Jenny’s early years were spent in Woodinville, where she made many friends, including her future husband Evan. She was a talented saxophone player, ski racer, and student. She had an artistic flair and considered herself a fashionista, which made some of her clothing ensembles interesting. After graduating from Woodinville HS in 1993, Jenny attended U of W, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega. After two years, she decided she wanted to be out in the “real world” and left school to begin her long working career. Her interest in flying was peaked from her time working at Kenmore Air Harbor, and from her dad, a pilot. She began her flight attendant career at Horizon, then moved on to Delta Airlines, where she travelled worldwide, seeing Europe, Scandinavia, South America, and Asia, and lived in Atlanta and Portland.
After 9-11, flying changed, and Jenny set down roots in Southern Cal, and began working for an upstart sports apparel company called LuluLemon. She quickly rose to west coast marketing manager, opening new stores and marketing product from California to Canada. The experience she gained in these people-oriented businesses served her well when she moved back to the Northwest and worked in marketing/event planning for Woodmark Hotel, Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Program, and Compass Group.
Although Jenny enjoyed her wanderlust life immensely, she found her true happiness when she returned to the NW and married Evan in 2009. She loved being part of the large Metz clan. In 2010 Jack was born, followed by Lizzy in 2012. Jenny delighted in being a Mom, and had no shortage of funny stories about the antics of these two. Days became busy with soccer, baseball, dance and gymnastic classes and everyday life.
Three years ago, Jenny and Evan completed building their dream house on five acres in Duvall.
Jenny’s artistic talent was now concentrated on decorating their “farmhouse” and she loved changing decor depending on the season. With treasures found at estate sales, Jenny made their house look both homey, and like a Country Living magazine cover.
Perhaps because of her time with Little Bit, Jenny decided she wanted to ride horses, specifically hunters and jumpers. She took lessons and finally was able to buy her first horse, and successfully show him. Not to be dissuaded by her cancer diagnosis, Evan bought her dream horse last fall. She loved owning this exceptional animal and found pleasure caring for him and making plans for future shows.
Jenny leaves behind her loving husband and “her rock” Evan, her beloved children Jack (12) and Lizzy (9), her parents, John and Linda Beatty, and brother, Bryan. Jenny, we miss your radiant smile, your quirky sense of humor, and your zest for life. We love you and will never forget you, our beautiful girl.
