James Franklin ‘Jim’ Lonsbery passed away peacefully on September 10 in Auburn, WA. Jim was born in Seattle, WA to Franklin and Katherine Lonsbery.

Jim grew up in Seattle, attending Ingraham High School before transferring to Lakeside High School, where he graduated in 1972. He went on to attend the University of Puget Sound, where he played both football and baseball. After college, Jim moved to Spokane for work before returning to the west side, where he met his wife, Dianne. The two were married on March 9, 1985, and celebrated their 39th anniversary this year. In 1993, they welcomed their only child, Alyssa.

Jim had a deep love for the outdoors, sports, and animals. He was an avid fisherman and felt most at home on the river. When Alyssa began playing softball at the age of 8, Jim started coaching and continued to do so until his passing. Above all, Jim had a special love for dogs.

Jim is survived by his wife Dianne, daughter Alyssa, son-in-law Preston, and his beloved granddog Sophie. He was preceded in death by his parents Franklin and Katherine Lonsbery, his brother Joseph, and several cherished furry friends whom we are certain greeted him at the gates.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, at the Acer Facility, 26415 79th Ave S, Kent, WA 98032. In honor of Jim, attendees are encouraged to wear gear or colors from one of his favorite teams: the Mariners, Seahawks, Sounders, University of Washington, University of Puget Sound, Acers, or Riverside High School.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Angel Haven by the Creek (adult family home) via Venmo.
