Share your Memorial with Family & Friends

To her family: I’m so sorry to hear of Irene’s passing. To Irene: Thanks for your example, the dialogue, your warmth, friendship, all the holiday dinners, and your cheesecake.

I’m so sorry Irene had to leave. Any time she visited she kept the conversation lively and challenging. She always took care of her family and friends and was fiercely protective of them. I liked her. She will be missed.

OUR {RICH] AND MY DEEPEST AND MOST SINCERE CONDOLENCES TO THE WHOLE FERRY FAMILY. I HAVE KNOWN IRENE FOR PERHAPS 20 YEARS OR MORE. I UNDERSTOOD IRENE VERY WELL SINCE I ALSO WAS BORN IN GERMANY AND CAME TO THE USA . WE BOTH HAD [HAVE] A GREAT LOVE FOR AMERICA. OUR CONVERSATIONS WERE MOSTLY ABOUT POLITICS. SHE WAS A FIERCE BUT LOYAL FRIEND ANYONE COULD HAVE. NO MATTER HOW BADLY SHE FELT SHE WOULD ALWAYS ASK ME HOW MY DAY WENT AND WOULD GIVE ME ADVICE AND SUPPORT AND MAKE ME FEEL BETTER. I SHARED HER LOVE FOR GARDENING AND ALSO GERMAN FOOD. ANY OPPORTUNITY WE HAD WE WOULD GO AND CHECK OUT THE NURSERY FOR NEW PLANTS. SHE WAS A VERY IMPORTANT PERSON IN MY LIFE. BOTH, MY HUSBAND AND I SHALL MISS HER GREATLY.

To the entire Ferry Family, I send my sincerest condolances to you all. What a perfect write up for her obit. She would have been very proud, and I am sure even smirked a bit. I met her 14 years ago, when my daughter was a kindergarten classmate of Kaylie's. I immediately felt connected to her, as I spent a large amount of my childhood with my German Grandmother. I felt right away that I knew her, and all she stood for. My respect for her imense. She was such an honorable woman. We differed in our political views, but I listened to her musings and on occasion even gave her a slight challenge when I was feeling brave. (She could be a fun sparing partner if the timing was right.) She was an amazing human being who gave so much of herself and set an incredible example. In our past few visits, I tried my best to impress upon her how much she was loved and admired. I pray she truly received this. From my experience, she was not one to ever take a compliment readily. I will never forget her. Her wicked sense of humor, her bold statements, and the pride she had in her family. May you all be wrapped up in warmth and unending memories. Julie Wellman
