George Hoover died unexpectedly on May 2, 2021 due to complications of a heart procedure.  He was 71 years old.  George was born and raised in San Gabriel, California.  He moved to Seattle and joined his long-time friend Dan Ames, working for the RAFN Company, a commercial general contractor.  George took pride in his work and the relationships he made with his co-workers and clients.  He was well appreciated in his many years working there.

George and Lisa Siegel met through a friend in 1992 and 12 years later, married.  They continued a loving and mutually supportive relationship for 17 years until his death.

George enthusiastically sought information through books, news reports, lectures and conversation. At the advent of the #MeToo movement George wrote:

“I’m dragging myself through Against Our Wills – Men, Women and Rape, by Susan Brownmiller.  It’s studious, well researched and written, and brutal.  I say, “dragging” because it is as I describe it.  Brownmiller is not anti-male, not particularly pro-female.  She is a humanist and writes as a sociologist.”

George was a vital, inventive, intensely curious individual and he was admired and loved.  He was actively involved in preserving human rights, environmental health and support of the arts.

He will be missed.
