It is with great sadness to share that we lost our beloved Finn on the evening of February 11, 2024, in Seattle, Washington.

Finn Owen Smith was born in Seattle on December 8, 1997. He spent his life in the Broadview neighborhood in North Seattle, and spent much of his time skateboarding, drawing, swimming, at baseball or hanging out with his brother, as well as bicycling and going to Carkeek Park with friends. Finn attended the Ballard Boys & Girls Club as a young boy, and went on to study at Ballard High School, the Washington Youth Academy, and Shoreline Community College.

Like so many young adults, Finn was exuberant about the things he loved. He and his brother would go nuts on the trampoline, Finn was often in the kitchen, singing while making breakfast for his girlfriend, Kathryn, or for the family…crepes and eggs were his specialty. Finn’s work ethic and leadership qualities were respected wherever he worked.

Outside of work, Finn could be found lifting at the gym with friends, working on cars with his dad or his buddies, hugging his mom, or lavishing attention on the family cat, Meemo.

Anyone who knew Finn knew what it meant to be cared for. Finn was kind, warm, funny, and charming in equal measure to family, friends, and new acquaintances alike. He had a warm smile, the biggest heart, loved helping others, and knew how to make people laugh. Finn’s family, his girlfriend, and friends miss him more than words can convey.

Finn will be forever loved and cherished by his parents, Brian Smith and Erica Korb, his brother Emilio (Mil) Smith, his girlfriend Kathryn Pacheco, several loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as his many extended family members, close friends, long-time neighbors, and co-workers.

To honor Finn’s life, a casual, open house memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 9th, between 1 and 4 PM, at one of Finn’s and his family’s favorite gathering places, Seattle’s Lockspot Café (adjacent to the Ballard Locks).  Friends and loved ones are welcome to show up at any time during the event to honor Finn and to visit with one another.
